Holly Hobbie Kitchen

I made this cake last night:

It's a modified version of the pumpkin chocolate cake on the cover of Country Living. I kept the cake recipe the same, but made a single layer rather than a double layer cake. I modified the cream cheese frosting, opting against the orange food coloring. I had all intentions of making the glaze, but by the time I finished it was ten at night, and I just didn't have it in me. I think it's fine as is, anyway. I'd recommend the cake: it's moist, not too sweet, not too pumkin-y.

This is the oven I baked the cake in:

As you can see, it is very small. I call it the Holly Hobbie stove.

Holly currently looks like this:

But she used to look like this:

Can't you imagine that brown bonneted thing using my tiny Harvest Gold stove?

Please also notice the cabinet above the stove. That's the only cabinet in the entire kitchen. I have two words to accompany that fact, and they are: creative storage. In fact, that picture captures the entire kitchen, in all its brown-ness and minuteness. It is not at all unlike the rest of the apartment. I kind of have a Holly Hobbie home. Maybe I should make myself a bonnet. I see a Halloween costume in the works...

A keen obeserver might also note the antiquated juicer. It's yellow, and looks both phallic and vicious. But that's a discussion for another post.

I had no idea they had updated Holly Hobbie. I thought she was gone forever. And thank you for the cake review. I had wanted to make that one and forgot all about it. I'm glad you reminded me.
